This was largely due to its superior level of comfort when compared to other cars in its class and the unique design and shape.

The idea for a \’People\’s Car\’ came to Adolf ****** in 1924 when he was imprisoned in Landsburg. He thought that the Beetle would go some way in solving Germany\’s unemployment problem with the creation of the factories and assembly lines needed to produce the car. He also thought that an affordable family car would lead to crowded streets and roads so he also planned to build the Autobahns, creating more work for the unemployed. When ****** seized power, his plan was put into action.

The task of designing the \’Peoples Car\’ or Volkswagen was given, in 1934, to Ferdinand Porsche, who had a similar vision to ****** of producing a car that the average working man could afford. The prototype was built two years later and the Beetle was unveiled at the 1938 Berlin Motor Show but the onset of the Second World War halted production until 1946 when 1,785 were built by hand to be used as light army transport.

In 1947, 19000 vehicles were produced and exported to Holland and in 1949 the first Beetle was sold in the U.S.A. By 1950 the car had become very popular and the 100,000 Beetle had rolled off the production line. By 1960 4,000,000 Volkswagen Beetles had been produced and the vehicle had become popular worldwide with factories all over the world.

During the 1960\’s and 70\’s the Volkswagen Beetle became the most popular small car in the U.S.A. and in 1972 broke the record held by the Ford Model T for total production of a saloon car. Production of the Beetle in Germany ceased in 1978, although production continued in other parts of the world.

The 20,000,000th \’Bug\’ was produced in Puebla, Mexico in 1981 and the very last, original Beetle, rolled off the production line in Puebla July 30th 2003, 65 years after the public were given their first viewing in Berlin. The car was sent straight away to the Volkswagen Museum in Wolfsburgh in Germany.

Caffeinated Content for WordPress

Kim Baker asked:

When VW was being conceptualized, their primary goal was to build a people’s car. Something that ordinary people can afford and yet be functional enough for their lifestyle. Hence the VW beetle was produced. Adolf ****** one of the people who supported the concept of the beetle. VW has been making quality cars since then. As the vehicles were continuously upgraded to suit the people’s needs, various car parts were also enhanced to fit the vehicles design. One innovation that have helped the engine is the VW cold air intake.

A VW cold air intake is a system used to bring down the temperature of the air going into a car. Its primary purpose is to increase the power of the internal-combustion engine. A secondary goal is to increase the appeal of a car by changing the appearance of a car’s engine bay and creating an attractive intake noise. All VW cold air intakes operate on the principle of increasing the amount of oxygen available for combustion with fuel. Because cooler air has more density for a given volume, cold air intakes generally work by introducing cooler air from outside the hot engine bay. However, the term cold air intake is often used to describe other methods of increasing oxygen to an engine, which may even increase the temperature of the air coming into an engine. The make of cold air intakes has a direct effect on the type of performance one wants or needs. One strategy used in designing cold air intakes is increasing the diameter of the air intake, that allows increased airflow. Another way is smoothing the interior of the intake to reduce air resistance. Providing a more direct route to the air intake, can also result to a better VW cold air intake.

Intake systems come in many different styles and can be constructed from plastic, metal, rubber or composite materials like fiberglass, carbon fiber or kevlar. Due to the limited time, air actually remains inside the intake tubing. The materials often do not impact a kit’s ability to deliver cool air. The most basic cold air intake replaces the stock airbox with a short metal or plastic tube leading to a conical air filter, called a Short ram air intake. The power gained by this method can vary depending on how restrictive the factory airbox is. The placement of the filter is usually directly in the engine compartment. The overall benefits depend on the specific application. Power may be lost at certain engine speeds and gained at others. Because of the increased airflow and reduced covering, intake noise is usually increased. This effect is usually amplified on applications where a resonator, a part intended to reduce intake noise on some vehicles, is replaced by the intake.

Though the VW cold air intake can really help the engine, there is still some potential risk when using it. One thing is to avoid getting water in the engine by installing a water shield in the intake or not driving in the rain at all.

VW cold air intakes can really have a powerful effect on the car. But considering the possible risk, it should also be properly maintained just like any regular car part.

Website content

Joan Winehouse asked:

The VW Beetle is one of the most well known cars in history. The beetle came out initially in 1938, and has been in production in one form or another for most of the years from 1938 to 2003. The VW Beetle is without doubt one of the most classic cars in history. And the history of the VW Beetle is an interesting one indeed. The original idea for the VW Beetle, or what is also known as the VW Bug, came from Adolf ******. It is said that he had the idea of a “peoples car” in 1924 whilst he way in prison. He wanted a car that anyone could afford, and also to help with the unemployment problem that existed in post WW1 Germany. In 1933 the **** party came to power and ****** raised the issue of building special roads for the peoples car, and in 1933 the government began a program of construction of “autobahns” for German drivers. “Volkswagon” (VW) is the German name for peoples car.

Hitler wanted the design project for the Beetle started and gave the job to Ferdinand Porshe, later to become very well known for the “Porsche” cars that bore his name. ****** specified some criteria, including a top speed of 62 mph (100 kmh), at least 42 miles to the gallon fuel consumption, able to transport at least 2 adults and 3 children and to be able to sell for less than what was at the time the equivalent of 86 pounts (UK currency). Thus began the history of the VW Beetle, arguably the most famous car in history. The big question was the engine to be used and the placement of the engine, and in 1935 an Austrial engineer came up with a design for a flat four engine, Porshe having previously decided that the engine should be rear mounted. This engine was an air cooled engine, and was cheap to build, and this engine powered hundreds of thouands of beetles for the next 40 years. And the name even came from Adolf ******.

He specified a car that would “look like a beetle” so it was well streamlined, and hence the name “Beetle”. Then “Bug”. And the history of the VW Beetle records that that body shape changed little over many decades. The basic style of the VW Beetle changed little over many decades, though of course there were many different models, but each model had the same basic beetle shape, and the engine changed little too. The manufacture of the Volkswagen Beetle stopped in 1980, at what point it had become the worlds most popular car.The VW Beetle is not the worlds fastest car. It will, technically, do 0 – 50 mph in 13 seconds, a little slower than most cars today, but it had other features that made it popular. It was cheap to buy and run, simple to work on and reliable. It had only a small motor and, although originally required by ****** to do 42 mpg, actually did a little over 30 mpg.

That, however, is still very good compared to many modern cars. That’s the basic history of the VW Beetle. It was and is one of the worlds classic cars. It spawned a whole generation of great small cars, like the VW golf, and sold hundreds of thousands. It has also been the basis of many other vehicles. For example many vehicles such as dune buggies are based on a simple VW Beetel chassis. The history of the Beetle is an interesting one.

And for those interested in owning a VW Beetle there is still a range of great quality second hand Beetles available. And there are countless restored Beetles and car clubs with many Beetle owners. So if you’d love your own piece of automobile history grab a VW Beetle. The history of the VW Beetle has shown it to be one of the worlds great cars.

Website content
