I’m living out of a campervan in New Zealand. Do I need one with showers, or are there free public showers?

I’m not planning on staying at hostels, so I’m wondering about other bathing options that may be available. I’ll be there for two months [for their winter, leaving on Wednesday] so not showering is a little bit much, even for me.

Inexpensive websites

Get one with a shower for sure. if you find a public shower they are likely to be cold and are they safe.

well if your planning on parking at camping grounds (where you would have to pay a small fee) then you’d have access to the camp toilets and hot showers, otherwise it’d be just cold showers at beach areas
heres a link to the top10 camping grounds
and a link to another holiday park website
throughout NZ – powered sites for camper vans are roughly $20 a night or you can get non-powered for roughly $18 a night.
    hope this helps

At beaches (at least the ones in cities anyway), have a look in the public toilets as some do have showers but these will be cold water only & that would be awful in our winter. They are not likely to be that hygenic either, likewise with public toilets. I wonder if you can go into a hostel & just ask if you can pay a fee to have a shower & then go straight afterwards? Some might see that as a security risk I guess but you could give them your passport to hold onto until you’ve finished or something.
